SMS Notifications Program

Last updated: June 16, 2026

This page describes how Modulus uses text messaging (SMS) to send transactional production updates to crew members working on live events. It is provided for recipients, event producers, and regulatory review.

About Modulus

Modulus is a web-based run-of-show management platform for live event production teams. Event producers use Modulus to build run sheets, share materials with crew, and send manual update alerts when schedules or documents change.

SMS sending number
Messages are sent from the Modulus toll-free number registered with our SMS provider (Twilio).

What messages are sent

Modulus sends informational, transactional SMS messages only. We do not send marketing or promotional texts.

  • Run sheet updates — when a producer manually sends a “Send Update” alert to crew on a show
  • Capture alerts — when enabled, automated recording status messages for a program (e.g., pre-roll, start, stop)
  • Co-owner access — occasional access links when a producer adds a co-owner to a program

Who receives messages

Only people whose phone number was added to a specific event program by the event producer (the “Creator”) may receive SMS from Modulus. Crew members and co-owners do not create Modulus accounts to receive these texts — they are added as contacts by the producer.

How consent / opt-in works

End users do not opt in through a public web form. Consent is collected directly by the event producer before a phone number is saved in Modulus:

  1. The producer adds the crew member’s name and mobile phone number in the Modulus Contacts panel for that show.
  2. Before saving, the producer must confirm: “This contact has agreed to receive text notifications at this number.”
  3. The phone number is stored and used for SMS only after that confirmation.

Producer responsibility: Event producers are required to obtain express consent from each crew member (verbal, written, or by contract) before adding their number and enabling SMS notifications. Modulus does not send SMS to numbers that have not been added through this workflow.

Messages are sent only when a producer manually triggers Send Update or when an enabled Capture alert fires — not on a fixed marketing schedule.

Message frequency

Frequency varies by production. During an active show, a crew member might receive a few messages per show day when updates are sent. Outside of active productions, message volume is typically zero. There is no daily or weekly marketing cadence.

Example messages

Sample run sheet update:

Modulus: Hi Alex, Run sheet updated — Main Stage Gala v12 · lighting crew Lobby call moved to 6:45 PM. Please review your assigned tabs. View: https://modulus.show/?r=xxxxxxxx

Sample Capture alert:

Modulus Capture: Recording starts in 15 minutes — Main Stage Gala.

How to opt out (STOP)

Recipients can cancel SMS at any time by replying STOP to any Modulus message. After opting out, you will no longer receive SMS from our number unless you opt back in by contacting your event producer or replying START where supported.

How to get help (HELP)

Reply HELP to any Modulus message for assistance, or email [email protected].
